A Light Through A Window by Haley Dewey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Join poet Haley Dewey on her journey through the dark to the light in her new collection “Light through A Window.” Her writing is beautiful yet stark as we fall to the depths of despair with her but then rise to the brilliant glory of God’s redemption. When this book was written, Haley said that she had begun sacrificing her beliefs for others, which led to depression and suicidal thoughts. She wrote the book to encourage readers to return to the light.
Yes, the book explores shadows, recesses, and the bleakness of life, but the light shines so brightly here that it obliterates despair and hopelessness. It touches on isolation, sexual abuse, discord, pain, political and sexual upheaval, and depression. When first reading, difficult feelings flooded as many of us have struggled with darkness, disorder, and chaos. Her words paint pictures of how broken we are without the beauty of light. This book is for the young, the old, the middle, and all those interested in exploring their inner thoughts, outer circumstances, and redemption. In “Light Through A Window,” you will find comfort in knowing the light of Jesus heals any brokenness.
