As I Sought, I Heard You
Happy New Year, dearest friends! Yay 2022. How exciting. December was busy making the Christmas Album & videos The Rutherford/Parry Project and preparing cards and gifts. It was a joyful, blessed season. Then after Christmas, I went on a family & friend trip. What stands out is how God goes ahead of us to set us up for the future. I learn being wise begins with listening.
I am grateful for my family and friends. We receive so much love, joy, support, and fun when we spend time with the people we love. And there is nothing like connecting in person.
I see how God has placed each person in my life to love. Each one gives a word of encouragement, a welcoming hug, a golden nugget of advice, fellowship – and what’s so wonderful is it inspires me to be there for others, encourage, share, and be a friend.
God never asks us to go through life alone – in fact, God is always with us. God places people in our lives for those crucial life challenging life-changing moments when a smile, word, shared meal, or gift can mean the difference between despair and joy.
Entering the New Year, I consider all that God has done and is doing for my family and friends. Pondering God’s ways, God’s plans.
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
Directing My Path Through Seeking –
While seeking God in daily prayer, bible reading, and studying, God often reminds me of His will for my life through themes. As 2021 entered its last quarter, my received theme was godly counsel. After several promptings, I realized I needed godly counsel to go forward with God’s best plan for my life.
In Proverbs 15:22, Solomon wrote,
22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
My Journey to Godly Counsel –
The search for godly counsel began in a financial area where wise decisions are needed. God entrusts us with stewardship to the blessings He has given us. Our responsibility is to use our gifts, talents, and blessings for God’s best interest (READ HERE: MATTHEW 25:14-30 THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS). Thankfully one of our friends (thanks Lissie!), who has expertise in this field, gave us godly counsel with two lovely advisors helping us make the decisions we needed to make. I felt so loved by God that He would bring this friend into my life. And importantly, I felt the need to be a friend like her. To be helpful and do my best to provide godly counsel.
1 Peter 4:10 – As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning, and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: Proverbs 1:5 KJV
Ask, Seek, Find –
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
God Places Lovely People In Our Lives –
So, after this experience, while journaling, I wrote down the other areas in my life that I trust God was asking me to seek wisdom in. Then the most wonderful thing happened. One by one, as I sought, reached out, showed up, asked, God placed these lovely people in my life – through friends, blogs & podcasts I follow, and our church. All I know is God is amazing.
For example, I prayed for godly counsel in my spiritual life. Guess what – a lovely lady at church asked me to join an upcoming women’s bible study. And I received my Growth Roots Co. Growth Book – I highly recommend this journal for your Journaling, Prayer, and Bible Studies. Also The Christy Wright Show and Goal Planner 2022 is inspirational in helping me set God lens goals.
Then I was praying for godly counsel in my writing. One of the Christian writers I follow was looking for an intern. My opportunity to learn the behind-the-scenes of the Christian writer. Again, here was an opportunity to receive godly counsel in another area of my life.
Another illustration would be The Rutherford/Parry Christmas album/videos. Two months ago, there were no plans to make an album or even a video. This was sparked through lunch and fellowship where dreams and ideas are born. Through challenging work and following the call of God’s plan, a Christmas album with videos did happen. This gift of beautiful music was a blessing to send to our family and friends.
Being Wise Begins With Listening
I could go on and on about the miracles of God’s grace in my life. What I believe is we need to listen to God’s directions and that being wise begins with listening. And even if it sounds a little crazy, then it’s probably right.
Sometimes we need to be inspirational to others to help them, and I know God puts this in us. Other times we are to let others be that for us. And together, we walk in sublime harmony, orchestrating God’s design for our lives. I think it is incredible to accept this outstanding God principle – Ask, and you shall receive, Seek and you shall find, Knock and it shall be opened to you! And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Luke 11:9 KJV
