Miracles
Miracles do happen, and I am always left marveling at them. Did an angel come by today? Was this a divine appointment?
My story may leave you wondering and pondering too.
It happened this way, many years back…
With a little extra time on my hands, I decided to stop and pick up a coffee.
Cradling the hot brew, I headed back to my car when a woman approached me. My heart raced, wondering if she was friend or foe.
I shook my head no, averted her eyes, and leaped into my car, locking the doors.
I then felt shame and reconsidered.
Getting out of my car, I said, “Excuse me.”
She turned back towards me.
“Here you go.”
She smiled, “Thank you.”
Back in my car, engine started, my eyes searched the lot for her, but she was gone.
Divine Appointments Along the Way
Later that day, I was at work north of Los Angeles at Vasquez Rocks. On my break, I walked along a dirt path. Alone, I watched the ground to keep from stumbling. Then there in the dirt, I saw it – a dollar bill.
Looking around, I picked the bill up, stunned that only earlier that day I had given money, and now it returned to me.
Sometimes God sends angels disguised as strangers.
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing, some have unwittingly entertained angels.
NKJV Hebrews 13:2
Many questions rushed in. So, was this an angel? Was this an opportunity to be kind? Does the dollar I gave away have any to do with the dollar found?
Though this happened many years ago, I still remember its profound effect on me.
I pray to God to send me opportunities to show kindness, charity, and hospitality. To open my eyes to see these opportunities as for what they are – cherished moments of divine interaction between the beings of heaven and earth.
Jesus Kindness
35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
