Don’t Give Up – God’s Got You

God’s helping hand delivers you from discouraged to encouraged. Don't give up because God's got you.

I finished writing an article for a magazine, but when I went to submit it, I realized that it needed to be 1800 words, and I had only written 1600 words. Frustrated, I decided to send the paper anyway. Then discouraged, I went for a walk, whimpering, “I don’t know if I can do this.” Then God pressed upon me, “Deborah, it’s only 200 more words.” I chuckled and said, “OK, God, I get it. I’ll write 200 more words.”

When we do our best, and though it may not be perfect, good enough, or even correct, we may give up. Are we tired of trying to do what is right every day? How do we feel when we fall short?

God’s Sweet Nudge –

I want to tell you, friend: Don’t give up; God is there for you. He knows when we reach our breaking point and prompts us when we are trapped in hopelessness. God’s helping hand delivers us from discouraged to encouraged. Like when He nudged me with, “Deborah, it’s only 200 more words.” This sweet nudge said, “Hey, keep going. You’ve got this.” God’s sweet nudge gives us supernatural strength to keep going. Providing motivation, confidence, peace, and the focus we need. How many times have we quit right before reaching the mountain top? We may not even know how close we are to success, but God does.

When you reach your limit, go for a walk, sit in peace, and pray with God. Cry, saying, “Hey, I am overwhelmed. Help me.” And then listen for God through His quiet voice, the scripture you are reading, a conversation with a friend, or a song on the radio. God knows exactly what you need and when you need it.

Doing our part –

We must do our part by praying and repenting. Then be attentive to God. Wait with expectant hope in persistent prayer. Next, praise and rejoice in God. He loves, hears, sees, and answers our prayers. Our good God wants the best for us. Now when you receive an answer, trust and obey Him. For example, when God said, “It’s only 200 more words Deborah,” I could have said, “Ah, forget that.” But then I would have disobeyed Him.

At first, I didn’t see why there needed to be 200 more words because I was at my limit. My defeat blinded me, but God saw past my discouragement. By obeying Him, I experienced His supernatural strength as He carried my burden and walked with me through this valley. Afterward, I felt seen and loved by God.

I hope this encourages you when you feel downhearted. God is there for you and wants to answer your cries, prayers, and pleas, so beloved ones go to Him.

Pursue and seek God and thirst for His living water (Psalm 42:2). God promises that you will receive when you ask, seek, and knock (Matthew 7:7).

Don’t give up – God’s got you –

When we are not budging, He will nudge us. If we are stuck, He will unstick us. He leads us to joy when we are joyless. What will you do? Will you join God in stillness, walks, prayers, songs, and intimate conversations? Seeking and pursuing, asking and knocking, then trusting and obeying Him?

Jesus heals the brokenhearted and will bind your wounds (Psalm 147:3). No matter where you are today, whether calm or at your wit’s end, know that Jesus is our way maker. Jesus, who walked on water, raised the dead and healed the blind, gives you supernatural strength too. Don’t give up because God’s got you.

  1. Good lesson learned, Deborah-apart from Christ we can do nothing, but we can do all things through Christ which strengthens us.

  2. Such an encouraging article, Deborah. We always need to remember that we don’t have to worry or be discouraged, because God will always give us strength and wisdom. May we remember to ask and also to praise Him. Blessings to you! I found your at the facebook page of Blogger Voices Network.

    1. Joanne, yes, I am learning this! And to obey after He nudges me. I remember a time when I felt God nudging me to start a bible study group and I set it all up but then I was afraid I wasn’t ready and didn’t do it. Then a year later when He nudged me to start my blog I obeyed immediately and it has been such a blessing.
