Although circumstances in life are ever-changing, God never changes. Therefore, we find joy in the unchangeable One. Let God’s joy lift you beyond your circumstances.
Looking back, I see God was preparing me for the drastic changes in our world. To show me that although circumstances in life will change, God never changes. I find true joy in my intimate personal relationship with Jesus because this never changes.

Pictures of Japan’s breathtaking cherry blossoms popped up in feeds, the parks blanketed in pink. I then read that Washington D.C. was the place to be for cherry blossoms in the USA. The thought of blossoms and Abe Lincoln got my heart pumping, leading to Don and I planning a trip to D.C. after our television job wrapped.
But then on March 13th, our work notified us that we were shutting down. Covid had hit. We decided to postpone the DC trip as no one knew what was going to happen.
Although bummed, I soon discovered that my town has the most beautiful cherry trees, and they were blossoming. I went down to the library, which sits on the lake to wander idyllic paths with exquisite flowers. I took selfies galore with graceful trees bursting in full bloom. Here in this peace, I realized that I was looking elsewhere for something that was already in my backyard.
God found a way to show me that no matter what was going on in my life He will always give His joy to lift me beyond my circumstances. And that day when my eyes held those cherry blossoms, the scent delightful, the beauty astounding, I was filled with God’s joy.
Looking back, I see God was preparing me for the drastic changes in our world. To show me that although circumstances in life will change, God never changes. I find true joy in my intimate personal relationship with Jesus because this never changes.
When our worlds suddenly change –
When the world suddenly changes do we fall apart? Whether it is huge like 2020, a doctor’s visit that tears our heart open, the job that went away, a misfired relationship, or something not life-altering but disappointing such as our schedule being disrupted, a vacation canceled, do we fall apart, or do we cling to God?
What if we knew that even in the biggest storm, the worst news, or a life challenge we can be calm, steadfast in our faith, and unwavering in the truth of God?
God never changes –
Because Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever, we find comfort in the One who is constant, always the same, consistent, solid – our foundation, cornerstone, our rock.
Although circumstances in life are ever-changing, God never changes. Therefore, we find joy in the unchangeable One.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8 KJV
Will you cling to the truth?
So, consider this, when your plans, life, and schedules are disrupted who are you going to cling to? Will it be the wobbly world or the unchanging heavenly Father? For God is always with it – He is our anchor in the deep waters, our rock that steadies our fears, the hands that lift and hold us gently soothing every worry and tear.
When our minds race or are unsettled cling to the One who brings joy and peace. Who takes our burdens and walks with us. Slowing down to count our blessings and acknowledge gratitude for the people and things in our lives that mean so much. Praise and rejoice in our glorious Creator for His love, promises, and blessings. We can live in the joy of Jesus, growing grateful hearts, content in our backyards and homes, putting to rest worries and burdens.
Although circumstances in life are ever-changing, God never changes. Therefore, we find joy in the unchangeable One.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

I love it that God gifted you with cherry blossoms right where you are. And I love HIs unchanging, unwavering and unalterable ways, no matter what our side of the equation looks like. I am grateful that God has blessed you with an assurance so strong that during these years, you have held fast to the One Who holds you. I have been blessed this morning to find you and this powerful post (for me) to have been my neighbor at a link-up. PS…When the time arises for you and your husband, keep that Washington, DC Cherry Blossom adventure on your to-do list. I have lived on DC as a child and then as an adult and visited there a few times in between. The last time was right during the Cherry Blossom Festival and the Spring before Covid. So grateful to have been able to go.
Hi Linda, thank you so much for your encouragement and I will definitely keep The Cherry Blossom Festival on my list. Yes, God is so good and His love unchanging and unwavering – we are blessed! I am so happy that you are my neighbor at the link up and I will visit you.
Amen sis. He never changes. I am so grateful for that. Enjoy your day Deborah. May God continue to shower blessings upon you.
Desiray, thank you for your loving words. And may God show you with His awesome blessings too.
You are welcome ?.
Such a beautiful and timeless message—May we not look elsewhere!
Emily, yes we are blessed! Thank you for stopping by.
This makes all the difference, Deborah, “I find true joy in my intimate personal relationship with Jesus.” I’m so thankful the Prince of Peace walked with us through covid. And I’m so glad you were able to enjoy the Cherry Blossoms in your area. Springs blooms are special!
Hi Lisa, yes I am so thankful too and another Spring of beautiful blooms.
I know I sound like a broken record, but I love how you write.
This had me lifting my hands: “For God is always with it – He is our anchor in the deep waters, our rock that steadies our fears, the hands that lift and hold us gently soothing every worry and tear….”
What a God!??
Debby, thank you for your encouraging words and bringing more joy to my heart. That mean a lot. Yes what a God!
Amen! The only answer to our fears and dismay over our ever-changing circumstances is to cling to the One who never changes. Thank you for this wonderful encouragement!
Patti, yes this is the truth and we can all have this peace of Jesus. Just think what our world would be like if all did.
What a joy to find cherry blossoms so near by! About ten years ago was a year of big changes for our family. One thought that sustained me was a line from the hymn “Be Still My Soul”: “In every change, He faithful will remain.”
Thank you Deborah for a beautiful post! How encouraging to know that no matter what changes in our lives, God never changes. His constancy provides a safe place in an ever changing world!
Donna, Thank you! I am so grateful that for this. Blessings to you!
