Road Trip This Side of Eden
I recently returned from a work road trip this side of Eden in Cocoa Beach, Florida discovering all we need to do is fix our eyes on Jesus. The weather was warm, and I was able to have a couple of beach days.
Many of you know I work as a makeup artist. It is a freelance life that can last from a day to months. This project lasted about 3 months. When working on a film, it is like living in some alternate reality because you step away from everything in your life. Your day-to-day reality is a select group of people, white circus-like tents, catering, cameras, makeup, sun shirts, and hats (or if cold billowy coats and fleece).
We were filming at Nasa with top security and escorts wherever we went. On one of the days, we stopped shooting to watch a rocket launch. And outside our work area in the nearby marsh there were alligators and white delicate cranes.
Our days often into nights were long, and my last one was 18.8 hours, to give you an idea. Mornings were prayer, Bible reading of a chapter, and then off to load onto the shuttle. Thank goodness for online devotions and fellow blogs to read daily on breaks to keep me grounded.
This Is Our God –
When I left for Florida, Winter was preparing to sleep while pre-Spring was beginning in Georgia with the small delights of a Day Lily and Pear Tree beauty.
And now I have returned to Georgia, which is gorgeous out here. The green is coming back, and blooms are everywhere with lovely weather. Yes, the bugs are waking up, and yellow pollen is falling from the pines. It feels like spring because I am springing into Spring – literally. But I love it, and I’m so grateful to God. I will never get over the beautiful transformation of dormant trees to electric green. Alive bouquets of yellows, pinks, and white. It is so fantastic and spectacular. This is our God!
And oh gosh, what God is teaching me – to hold fast to Him. To trust Him with everything. To be adaptable. Although I may have to-do lists of my desires, dreams, and hopes, He establishes my steps. So, I show up in good faith daily to what He calls me to do. It’s all exciting! This is where my heart is.

The Road Trip Always Continues –
Then we drove up to Tennessee to visit family. And along the way, there were many sleeping, dead-looking trees. But amid these trees were purple and white blooms beginning their Spring. I was astounded at their beauty. This made me so thankful for Jesus and that no matter what is going on in the world, He is coming back, and there will be no more evil, pain, or suffering. It gives me such hope and joy.

Your stories always draw me into your message. Great encouragement, as I am ready for Spring!
Theresa, thank you. That means so much. Our God is so good to give us stories to share with Him. And so good to provide us with Spring.
This is a beautiful reminder to fix our eyes on Jesus, especially during these uncertain times. Your words have touched my heart and inspired me to strengthen my faith. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and insight with us. Keep shining your light!
Jamie, I am so happy that you found encouragement here and that your faith is strengthened. These are uncertain times but our God is unchangeable, and for us.
I love your encouragement here as God wakes up the winter. It’s so beautiful and I love watching it too. Wow… heaven will be beautiful! Hope you rest up from your long days! Thanks for sharing your insights.
Traci, thank you so much. I am resting as God wakes up the winter – love that and it is so beautiful and yes heaven will be the best.
Loved hearing about your days on the set! I can imagine how valuable your devotions become over the course of a long day! Such good truths, and reminders to hold tight to Jesus, keeping our eyes on Him, we can never become lost or disappointed!
Donna, so happy you enjoyed it. As long as we have Jesus, we will make it through.?
So many beautiful places you traveled, Deborah! My husband used to have to travel to Kennedy Space Center for work, and I’d sometimes go with him and spend my days at Cocoa Beach while he worked (life’s not fair, I know, lol). I always see God on the waves there.
Lisa, it is a beautiful world and I am thankful for the traveling part. I liked Cocoa beach and how wonderful that you spent time there too. I love seeing God on the waves.
Debbie, what a treasure it was for me to have read today. I enjoyed hearing about your time on the set. I’m disabled and enjoy virtually “traveling” with all of my Blogging friends. This is a lovely message within sweet friend.
Visiting today from #TellHisStory.
Paula, I am so happy that you are virtually traveling me and our other Blogging friends. I love traveling through your writing too! Thank you for reading my sweet friend.
Spring is such a beautiful reminder that His eternal garden waits for us. Thank you for giving me a glimpse of March on the other side of the country! It’s blustery with a chance of flurries today.
Blessings,
Tammy
Tammy, yes we are beginning here in the South. May our early Spring bring you joy. We are still going to low temps at night with morning frost on car windows but so far the blooms are blooming – one day though – God’s eternal garden?
