And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works

Hebrews 10:24 NKJV

Discover joy in your life through the grace and love of God –

For we are not alone on this journey – for God is with us every step of the way.

Join me here as we explore faith, cultivate beauty and joy, and walk the path of peace in God’s globe. Because together we “stir up one another to love and good works”.

Welcome to my online home. A precious space for us to meet together. I am so happy that you are here, and I look forward to getting to know you. First, I am a Christian writer, blogger, poet, make-up artist, and sometimes singer. For the last seven years, I have been based in Georgia, where my family traded in the palm trees of Los Angeles for the woods, quiet, and deer.

“God’s Globe”, is a collection of devotions, prayers, stories, poems, photographs & other inspirations exploring the love of Jesus, family, nature, and more! I am hoping that this page will prove to be entertaining, and informative and that it will inspire us all “to stir up one another to love and good works”.

I share faith, spiritual growth, and life stories of marriage, family & friends, including some nitty-gritty struggles like weight, body image, and health navigating the seasons of life. Also, you’ll find resources, restaurants, travel, books, and media reviews here. I also pop in reliable skincare & makeup advice, tips, and recipes.

  • Faith – a woman’s faith is her crowning beauty – faith stories & self-growth
  • Spiritual growth – Talking & walking with God, prayer & bible study
  • Life – marriage, family, friends, and Beauty & Wellness
  • Beauty is not overdone – it is gentle and pure.
  • Beauty comes from inside when the heart is full of kindness and joy.

Your past is your testimony –

Due to childhood trauma, I turned away from the church at sixteen years of age. Thankfully, God reached down and pulled me back, dipping me in His glorious mercy. Since I am in love with Jesus telling whoever, I can about His healing, love, joy, and peace. My writing reflects how I was before Jesus and how I am now. Perhaps coming to our Savior in my adult years gives me a unique perspective on before and after.

In 8th grade, I took a creative writing class and that opened my eyes to writing. Soon I was penning poems to Jesus and journaling. Then in college as a Theater Arts Major, I explored playwriting. My passion for poetry brought me to music and songwriting.

During the 1980s, in Los Angeles, California, I wrote for the L.A. Weekly as a Stylist Writer, Music Interviewer, and Live Band Reviewer. By the 1990’s I was Staff Editor at Fizz Magazine, writing a monthly column, and editing teen and adult submissions for poetry and prose. In 2007 I was the Beauty Editor for one of the first online magazines. My writing continued into articles for my Local 706 Make-up and Hairstylist’s guild’s magazine “The Artisan,” writing on film, television, and theater projects.

Once you get to know me, you’ll find I have many stories, and only by the grace of God am I here to testify. For instance, I was in one of the first girl punk bands, later joining a folk group with a write-up in People Magazine. Also, for 30 years, I have worked as a make-up artist for film and television with many a story to tell.

What do I love to do?

I love journaling and Bible study with a good cup of tea, worship, singing, and walking in nature. But my favorite thing is being a wife and sharing my life with my husband, Christian guitarist-composer Don Rutherford.

Life is a remarkable journey when we are on board with God!

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned;
Nor shall the flames scorch you."
—Isaiah 43:2

What do you enjoy? I find I am encountering delig What do you enjoy?

I find I am encountering delight in all the wonderful enjoys and even maybe not so enjoys in life.

Because I am finding a beautiful blessing tucked in by One who loves me so. Thank you Jesus.

Brush through the slides for "I Enjoy: A Litany of Gratitude" or read here:

I enjoy lipstick the color of berries,
a shimmer of eyeshadow
and a good brow brush.

I enjoy bold coffee,
sitting with God and listening.

I enjoy early, slow mornings,
lazy afternoons,
and loungy evenings
peppered with good old-fashioned work
like vacuuming a big house,
folding tea towels,
and penning a poem or two.

I enjoy the epiphanies that come
after days of wrestling
with concern, conflict, and desire
as God invites me into His Word,
and right there is just what I am meant to know.

I enjoy walking in the heat
that feels like swimming in the air to me.
The sun in my eyes and on my body too.
Or when the rain pelts,
and I dash in and watch
the sky crackle,
snuggling close to my husband,
and I think about how we sometimes
have a rare snowfall,
and I am five again,
traipsing in those snow boots
just for the rare snow.

And when I forget to enjoy,
as sometimes we do,
especially with things like sadness,
loneliness, and when the world is hurting
along with your heart,
and a friend’s old letter reminds you
of days gone by,
I find that even in these times
there are unexpected blessings
as we find shelter in God’s comfort
and there find His treasures of hope,
kindling our hearts
and filling our cups with a joy
that comes not from what we do,
but just because
we are loved.

...

Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
Andrivers in the desert.
—Isaiah 43:19 NKJV
...

Enjoy ❤️

I’ve been thinking about what I am grateful for, l I’ve been thinking about what I am grateful for, like bold coffee, sitting with God, and listening. And all of this thinking has been pouring into a poem called I Enjoy: A Litany of Gratitude that I can’t wait to share with you.

I would love to hear what you are enjoying and what you are grateful for.

“I’ve Been Away” is a new poem I am writing to rem “I’ve Been Away” is a new poem I am writing to remind me of how blessed I am by family and friends. May we never forget the people God places in our lives.

To me, though, it is about so much more than traveling. It is about pilgrimage, our relationships with each other, sharing grief and joy, and the loveliness of returning home with grateful hearts.

I'VE BEEN AWAY

I’ve been away,
up winding roads,
from freeways to lake shores,
from one state to another.

A summer full of aways
of retreats, funerals,
a lakeside reunion,
and stayovers with close friends,
and furry pals.

I’ve been away,
from my home near the woods
to days buzzing with coffee,
conversation, and shared prayers,
and evenings full of pasta, wine, and old movies.

I’ve been away with
family and friends, new and old,
where tears and laughter mingled
to leave holy offerings of love.

I’ve returned from
the wilderness, the city,
and the out-of-town adventures—
each a safe refuge traveled through.

Roadsides
promising the best peach ice cream,
from praises to “Come to the Table,”
to somber descants of “It Is Well,”
to the B-52s.

A world where
holy and hard,
hymn and pop,
believer and non,
living and gone,
are woven into a vibrant tapestry.

Where God invites us
into His love,
to love each other,
and to hold one another as He holds us.

I’ve been away
to retreats, to funerals, to lakeside reunions,
to stayovers with close friends and puppy pals.

Now at home, dear Lord,
please help me not to forget how blessed I am
by the precious people You have placed in my life.

And you, dear friend, where have you been? I’d love to know. Please share in the comments, because you are my family and friends too.

Swipe through to read "Glass-Jar Eyes."

As I wrestled with that question these words spilled onto the page. I hope this poem reminds you that even in the shadows, there is still His light. Even in the waiting, there is hope. Even here, our Shepherd is near.
