How do we move from dashed to hopeful? Did you know our comforting One brings joy even when the world tips over?

These September days bring hope as I lean into God for His guidance, strength, and incredible love. But sometimes, little and often big bumps in life can bring discouragement.
So how do we rein in our tendency to allow discouragement to take root?
God is teaching me through the changing of the season as summer moves into fall, I, too, can move forward. To grasp hold of hope and ask God for guidance and strength.
Are you there too? Excited about the possibilities of the new things God is doing with you? But do small and sometimes big moments disrupt your joy and discourage you?
When we feel disappointed, disillusioned, or confused, the key is to go to Jesus for comfort. Life, with all its ups and downs, can overcome us. But sweet friends, remember Jesus is our overcomer – for He has already overcome this world. In John 16:33, Jesus promises, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Walking with God –
God has walked me through many adversities, problems, and obstacles. He has been faithful when I am praying for guidance. Leading me to Scripture to give me instructions or a word that tells me my direction. Sometimes to a fellow sister’s devotional or a song.
God speaks to us in many ways. We come and see, seek, draw near, and spend quiet, intimate time with Him. And pray to tell Him what is in our hearts. What we need and what we’re afraid of and everything. And then, we listen for God’s answer, direction, and guidance. It’s so glorious. And this is important – obey Him when we receive an answer, direction, or nudge. Do it. If God says to take a nap, take a nap. That happened to me the other day, and afterward, I was so restored. If He says to go on a walk, then go walking, letting your body and mind meet your spiritual rejuvenation. If there is an area of sin, then gratefully give it up.
God tells us exactly what we need to do and know. Our decisions can be made because we know God’s will from reading our Bibles. We see what aligns with Him as the Holy Spirit leads. And He gently nudges us back when we get off track. As we actively listen to God, we hear gentle nudges, sweet loving whispers, and Scripture revelations.
God is teaching –
God is teaching me not to be discouraged. To trust that He’s got this. Showing me how to transform my worldly emotions into godly ones. And wonderfully, to have hope and joy even in unjoyful circumstances. Also, to listen to Him in all instances and have grace for others and myself. As I go into this season of being 63 years old, the beginnings of Autumn and the holiday season, and just so much excitement and possibilities and things, I’m praying and listening to God for clear direction on everything He wants me to do. Under His wing, sheltered and protected.
If you feel discouraged, you can be encouraged as I am by our God, who knows how to comfort you. Moving forward into this new exciting season with love and hope. We are sustained by the peace and joy of Jesus, who takes us from discouraged to refreshed and reassured. We move from dashed to hopeful as our comforting One brings joy even when the world tips over.
