Do you ever get ahead of God? When rushing to plan and do, instead of abiding? Or are you finding yourself stressing and striving?
Sometimes my to-do lists, schedules, commitments, and dreams can overwhelm me. But then I notice if I slow down – let’s say go for a walk, grab a book, or tend to my new fledging veggie plants I hear, “Settle down, Deborah, let me show you the way.” That’s when I realize I am getting ahead of God and need to settle down and turn it all over to Him. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites us to, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Retiring then to my planner and journal, first in prayers, with God, His plan, not mine, His will, not mine. I find it is so much simpler, smoother, and nicer that way!
My timing can lead to stress and striving, but God says not so fast, my daughter.
Am I striving, then causing friction and confusion? This is when I slow down to rest in God’s timing, ways, and rhythms – to repent and return to Jesus, the One who carries.
His will, not mine.
I have to remind myself to slow down often, that God is growing me in His timing, not mine. Therefore, I am slowing down to the incredible life God has planned for me by resting in His timing, ways, and rhythm, the endearing moment by moment of God’s love.

Together let’s slow down to God’s timing, ways, and rhythm.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

But those who wait on the Lord
Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

A perennial reminder we all need, to slow down and intentionally keep ourselves in His timing!
Hi Emily. Yes I have to often!
Thank you so much for this encouragement to rest in God’s timing. I need the reminder to slow down and keep pace with the Lord more than most.
Patti, I am so happy this encouraged you. Me too!
Very wise and encouraging advice. God’s plan and timing won’t stress me out, no matter how much it stretches me!
