LET’S BEGIN – Preparing Your Hearts for Christmas –
Merry Christmas!
We are so excited and honored that you are Preparing Your Heart for Christmas with this Scripture Writing Devotional experience.
This project was birthed through the Holy Spirit and the hearts of three women, Deborah Rutherford, Susan Davidson, and Tracie Nall, whose greatest desire is to glorify God and encourage women with the work of our hands and words of our pens.
In this devotion, you will find a way to prepare your heart for Christmas and remain consistently connected to the Word regardless of how bustling or peace-filled your December.
First, Scripture Writing. You will find on Page 3 a Scripture Writing Plan for the 25 days leading to Christmas. Scripture Writing is as simple as its name. You simply look up the day’s selection in your favorite translation of the Bible and copy it in your own handwriting into a notebook, journal, sticky note, or index card. You can use this verse as a focus point of meditation or memorization. If you decide to go a step further, you can journal the response of your heart to that verse.
Second, Devotions. You will see that on each day of this devotional, there are devotional offerings for you to read. Your schedule will determine how much time you are able to dedicate to preparing your heart each day. Some days may offer more time than others. Our goal is to provide you opportunities to connect with and draw closer to the manger this Christmas.
Third, Prayer Prompt. Following the devotional segments each day, you will find a short “Prayer Prompt” to initiate your time in prayer. This is by no means an exhaustive prayer but is to serve as more of a springboard for your own conversation with God.
Fourth, Ponder. Each day will conclude with a “Question” for you to ponder in response to the daily Truth of Scripture and devotions. This is a question to spark your thinking and prompt your own pen in response (our final segment).
Finally, Preparing Your Heart. The last portion of each day’s devotion provides a space for you to “Respond” to what God has shown or spoken to YOU during the time in His Word. It is a place for you to journal your own words in response.
More than anything, we pray that this devotional offering will draw you closer to the Savior this Christmas season by Preparing Your Heart for His arrival.
