And God Is Still In Control
June summer days bring temperatures wading into the ’90s. Humidity is nearing 100. Tropical storms deliver heavy rainfall, sandwiching days wet to dry. As the seasons’ turn, I see that the firefly flies. This precious event shows me that God is still in control. God is everywhere, all-knowing, and powerful!
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. Job 12:10 KJV

Seeing In The Rest
Today there is a rest before more rain. Then, as the sun breaks through, I see a large hawk fly down to the creek. Running outside onto the deck, I view the hawk through binoculars, seeing rather large yellow talons. This bird is fluffy and big. Is it unusual for it to be on the ground? I figure the hawk is hungry and tired of trying to find prey in the deep green foliage.
The bird of prey looks to the left, then to the right, and then turns its head all the way around it seems.
After several minutes, the hawk flies off into the heavily wooded swamp.
Later, as evening sets in, my husband says that my potted flowers are blooming and the lilies are lil-ling. And I add – the lightning bugs are out.

And Then The Firefly Flies
I have never seen a lightning bug this high up. But they are in the trees above me. They are going off like fireworks!
Sweet little things.
I relax in my lounge chair as the finale brings it all home.
Who is this little creature -blink- blink -blink -blink and then lights out?
Watching the display of fireflies, my husband and I discuss putting twinkling lights up on the deck. I say I would love that.
Yes, I just saw the first fireflies of the season. Little lights in the woods, out by the trees. Such special bugs giving joy when you see one. And I feel peace as I watch these fireflies like tiny stars flickering here and there.
It is peaceful out as night quietens with the last sounds of a plane or car traveling by.
Most of, most of all, this is a reminder that God is still in control. The firefly flies!
