Join me today in the continual sacrifice of praise to God through worshipping, singing, shouting, dancing, together and alone, all the time, now and forever. Because this is an eternal call, a forever dance where we are held by our God together through eternity.

Noah builds an altar and offers a sacrifice. Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. Genesis 8:20 NKJV
It had been a whole year since Noah, his family, and all the animals entered and sheltered in the Ark. When God sent the Flood by releasing the waters held in the heavens. And down came the rain, and water from the earth rose too. The whole world was covered in an endless ocean. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. All flesh who was of the breath of the spirit of life died.
All in whose nostrils wasthe breath of the spirit of life, all that wason the dry land, died. Genesis 7:22 NKJV
Only God’s remnant remained safely in the Ark.
Then God remembered Noah.
Noah worshipped God by building an altar to Him. There Noah offered a sacrifice of each clean animal and bird on the altar. This man was grateful, humbled, and in awe of the God who had delivered him.
As Christians, we don’t worship God with burnt offerings because Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, the spotless unblemished lamb of God who died on the cross for our sins and salvation. Instead of an altar, we have a cross. Instead of a High Priest, we have Jesus.
But our sacrifice should cost us something and be pleasing to God because of Jesus’ sacrifice.
We should present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God (Romans 12:1). Also, the sacrifice of giving our resources is pleasing to God (Philippians 4:18) as well as giving the sacrifice of praise to God (Hebrews 13:15). https://www.blueletterbible.org/comm/guzik_david/study-guide/genesis/genesis-8.cfm
The Sacrifice of Praise –
Praise is one of the sacrifices that pleases God. And praise is more than just emotions, feelings, or thoughts. It encompasses our whole mind, body, and soul. Our singing, hymns, and thanks-living of continual praise is a pleasing sweet-smelling aroma to God.

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Hebrews 13:15 NKJV
It is easy to be distracted and forgetful but the continuous intentional practice of praising God opens the eyes of our hearts to His goodness and blessings all around us.

I love the idea of thanks-living! Thank you for the insightful message on Christian sacrifice today.
Janis, I am learning so much as God takes me through the Scriptures on gratitude and praise. I love thanks-living too?
I’m so grateful that the Lord accepts our sacrifices of praise. He knows our hearts and has mercy on us, most especially in the darkest seasons. Praise lifts our eyes up to Him and those things of earth grow dimmer and dimmer. Thank you for this needed reminder, Deborah.
Linda, thank you for your beautiful insightful response. I am grateful for His mercy. Oh yes, lift our eyes and let the things of the works grow dimmer. Praise God.
Beautiful, Deborah! Sometimes I feel as though praise is a sacrifice, but after a minute or two of lifting my voice and entering into HIs presence I’m transformed. The altar of praise alters me.
Blessings to you,
Tammy
Tammy, thank you for your beautiful thoughts. I love the altar of praise transforms me.it really does transform us and that is so comforting.
Oh My Deborah, though I do offer thanksgiving, it’s not always the FIRST thing I do. I love that you brought that out in the story of Noah!
Donna, thank you. All glory to God to teach us incredible lessons as we read His living Word.
